Groups

All groups include population-specific music, cognitive goals, functional movement goals, interpersonal connections and instrument play by the participants.

 

Assisted Living Groups

Learning, higher level cognitive challenges, increased input from the group.

 

Memory Care Groups

Structure, repetition, successful experiences, reminiscence.

 

Sensory Groups

Small groups (2-5) are designed for those farther along in their disease progression and who cannot successfully engage in a larger group experience. Flexibility to meet individual needs including sensory stimulation, hand on hand assistance.

 

Care Home Groups

Movement, cognitive challenge, social connection. Often includes the care-home staff to facilitate positive connections.

Individual Music Therapy

Address individual needs and goals. Sessions are held where the person resides.

 

Private Music Therapy

Music therapist works with the client to determine appropriate goals and outcomes according to the client's needs. Frequency and length of treatment are discussed at the first visit.

Mini-sessions

15-20 minute sessions for residents in skilled nursing. Referrals are made by facility staff according to need. Mini sessions focus on addressing immediate needs in a short time-frame. One-hour time blocks allow the MT-BC to visit 3 or more people in the building.

 

Hospice Music Therapy

Individualized for the needs of the patient and family.

 

Neurological Music Therapy

Regain, improve, or maintain cognitive, physical and language function following stroke or TBI or for patients with Parkinson’s or other neurological illness.
